Letters from Kenia
The Songs We Haven’t Heard Yet.
A finished song can look like a closed door.
You find the words, make a thousand small choices, listen until the pieces belong together, and eventually say: this is the song.
And sometimes it is. I wouldn’t change that.
But lately I’ve been wondering what happens when you open that door again. Not because the song was wrong the first time. Not because you want to improve the version people already know. Just because music has a strange way of changing when you ask it a different question.
What if a familiar melody found a slower heartbeat? What if the quiet part suddenly had teeth? What if a song I thought I knew still had something to tell me?
The music I’ve made with Versiona carries choices, conversations and trust. I don’t want to erase any of that. I want to see what else those same songs might become when we give imagination a little more room.
That’s where The Backroom Sessions begin: new interpretations of my own songs, made carefully, without a production line or a promise to release something unfinished just because the calendar says Thursday.
And perhaps that’s what I want this little Corner to be, too. A place where a letter can become a conversation, where a familiar song can surprise us, and where we come back because we’re curious about what might happen next.
Some doors will stay open. Some will only be open for a few nights.
Come in. Stay a while.
